Nothing else to say. I can't believe it's been six years.
My little trip to New York has been delayed indefinitely (because I have two weddings to go to!). Today I am feeling very homesick for obvious reasons- even though I left the city 26 years ago. I'll always be a New Yorker at heart.

Finn's childhood backyard thread made me think of the old house. It had a small, narrow backyard that was just big enough for a swing set and a garden. For a city, that was pretty big! I liked our old house. It was small, but had an attic for me to play in! I remember being terrified of the basement, though. When I go back this summer, I'll have to swing by the neighborhood and my old school and take pictures!- Mood:

...at TrekBBS made me nostalgic and homesick for New York. I spent the first ten years of my life eating real New York style pizza (not at all like the Big New Yorker from Pizza Hut). The best place was about two blocks from my house in Staten Island...When I went to New York ten years ago to visit friends, I was sad to learn that it had recently closed. Bugger. Nothing lasts forever. The great Italian ice place near my house is also gone.
I'm looking forward to the little trip Mom and I are taking more than ever. We'll go to Chinatown for dim sum, take in a show (hopefully Wicked), visit a few friends and get some real pizza. Hell, if there's time, we might even take in a Mets game before they tear down Shea Stadium (if they haven't already!). One thing in S.I. that I know is still there(as of December, anyway) is Alfonso's pastry shop. We'll have to stock up on canolis. *drools*
Damn. I really miss New York. I love the D.C. area, I adored Denver/Boulder, but I'm a New Yorker at heart and always will be (though it's too damn expensive to live there now!). The one thing I'm not looking forward to on this trip is seeing the post-9/11 skyline.
