They're all over the place! The tulips will be here soon, too.
I got another one of my cross stitch pieces framed this week. They did a great job:

This one definitely gets entered in the needlework show!

We finally got some rain last night. Mom's garden has really suffered because of water restrictions. But parts of the garden are still thriving!
I harvested what was probably the last of the peppers today. It's amazing that the plants are still producing so far into October. Mom thinks she'll have another month of vegetables coming in! She'll harvest the salsify next week. Yum.

I'm even going to start a fifth blog- all about music.

It was a last minute birthday present (and I still have one more gift coming!). I'll never lose my spices again!
It is too damn hot. It hit 104 F in Stafford today, and the humidity was pure evil. It's going to be this way the rest of the week. Poor garden...just when the tomatoes and peppers are really producing.
*whines* I still haven't been approved for the
Still planning to see Order of the Phoenix in IMAX, but it's not going to happen this week. Hopefully, it will be around for a while longer.

Of course, with all the news about possible terrorist "dry runs" at airports, nothing can shock me anymore.A quick Harry Potter rant and the latest garden pics behind the cut...

Had a nice lunch with my family after, though. We went to Fuddruckers (or Ruddfuckers, as I've heard some call it!), then had dessert at Maggie Moo's later. Now I'm just sitting at the computer playing with the cross stitch CD that came with a magazine.
Mom's garden looks really good, despite the lack of rain recently. These are the latest pictures:
The first concert at the library went well. The band was good, but there weren't enough volunteers to help set up and take down equipment. So it was a lot of work. I'm really tired. The concerts are always fun, though!

My birthday is a little over a month away, but my presents came early. Mom and Dad got me two new books as well as the final Holiday Fairy Kit:
Oriental Cross Stitch is a beautiful book, and I hope to do stuff from it someday! I've already chosen a small project from Cross Stitch Wit & Wisdom
! This book has some really cute stuff in it. The Thanksgiving Fairy is next on my to-stitch list after the Halloween Fairy- I should have both completed by September.
Mom and Dad are back from their long trip. They were very happy to see the garden. I think Mom was more excited about seeing her garden again than seeing me or my sister! It's been a little hot and dry this week. But everything still looks good. The lilies and hollyhocks have taken over most of the garden, and they're so beautiful!

I had to snap a picture. I love toads! There are a lot of them (and frogs and turtles, too!) around here. They are so good at keeping the bug population down.
It's almost 100 F today. Humid, too. Yuck.

My sister and I went to brunch after church. I didn't feel like staying for choir, even though it was a piece I'd been looking forward to singing (an arrangement of "Down to the River to Pray" heard in O Brother, Where Art Thou) I just didn't have any voice today. Brunch was okay. We went to Perkins. It's nice to be able to sit down and talk to Katie every now and then. We really don't get to do that anymore- when we see each other, all we talk about is church stuff and my nephew! We talked about books and movies. I was surprised that we actually have the same all-time favorite book, Rebecca, and we're both annoyed that the movie isn' t on DVD.
Mom and Dad are having fun. They're in Santa Fe right now. They're headed for Boulder Tuesday, and they're going to swing by our old house and my high school in Broomfield before visiting friends in Denver and Boulder. They're also going up to Fort Collins to see what the Colorado State campus looks like now. Mom promised many pictures, and will stop by the bookstore to get me a T-shirt or something. I really liked college...I wish I could have gone with them! The garden would have died without me taking care of it, though.
The garden is looking really great. More lilies pop up every day, and the squash are coming in:

That's the first of many, I hope! The bugs seem to be staying away so far this year. The peppers and tomatoes should be starting soon, too. We're finally going to get some rain. Thank God. It's a pain to water everything every day.

That's a life-size picture. These are the ordinary variety you see in the stores!
The beets are coming in. Yuck. I'll have to bake them and then freeze them for Mom, because I sure don't eat them!
It's going to be 100 degrees on Friday. The poor garden!

That's about a pound of radishes there! And there are more to come. Mom was sure the plants had died during the last cold snap we had, but she was happy to be wrong! The yummy sweet peas will be ready soon, too...and the beets. Yuck. I will never like beets. The lilies will soon be popping up everywhere, too. I think this is my favorite time of year!
