I finally finished The Road. I had to check the actual book out, because the last CD was damaged. I ended up re-reading the whole thing. Oh, man, I have never gotten so depressed while reading!  I need to read something happy now. It was a great book, though- very deserving of the Pulitzer Prize.

And Luciano Pavarotti died today. What a loss for the opera world.  Damn, it hasn't been a good year for opera- first Beverly Sills, and now Pavarotti.

Two book clubs here in Austin picked The Road, which is pretty understandable since Cormac is from TX. I managed to get out of reading it. Twice!

I haven't been going to many book clubs lately because I want to write instead of read.

Now I'm really glad I skipped out on that one. A depressing book is NOT what I need right now. lol

I haven't readt any of his books, but heard of him via the upcoming film No Country for old Men, which is based on the novel he wrote. Been thinking about reading that before or after the movie, so I might add the Road to the list of novels to read.

The Road is being made into a movie, too.

Bleak as it is, it is an amazing book. I think it will easily become one of the great American novels.
